School Policies & Guidelines

Tuition and Related Fees Policy
Background:
Each year, a new Tuition Fees Schedule must be written to reflect changing economic needs of the school, in keeping with inflationary, rental, and energy costs, as well as with government funding trends. This schedule shall attempt to be equitable to all parties.
Policy:
- Registration Forms and Fees:
All students must commit to a full-year attendance at the school. Registration Fees for new students are $250.00. All parents or guardians registering a student at the school must sign a registration form indicating their acceptance of the terms of payment and of the fee schedule calculated for that particular student. Payment of fees is to be provided to the school before acceptance can be made official.
- Re-registration fees:
These fees are assessed each spring for students returning the following autumn. This policy is made to help administration predict staffing commitments for the coming school term. As school enrolment has grown, and space has become limited, this policy of early re-registration to ensure a place has become important. Re-registration fee is set at $125.00 and is non-refundable.
- Foreign Students:
Registration and Re-registration Fees for Foreign Students are $350.00, regardless of date of entry. Registration Fees and Re-registration fees are non-refundable. Foreign Students must commit to either a 6-month or a full-year attendance at the school, and to pay for this time period in advance. We have found that less than this time period is inefficient for learning English, as well as for establishing meaningful social ties. In order to commit fully to academic study, students need an understanding that they are here for an extended period of time, sufficient to exhibit growth in skills and knowledge.
- Host Parents:
Our school provides host families, if required. Our expectation is that host parents of Foreign Students, whether arranged through the school or otherwise, will participate in the school functions normally expected of Canadian parents. These events include: parent-teacher meetings and conferences, special events at Christmas and springtime, field trips and fund-raising endeavors. In all cases, we must have a contact person responsible for each student who is able to communicate with us fluently in English.
- Refunds:
Tuition Fees are not refunded for any reason, neither upon early withdrawal from the school, nor upon temporary absences. The signing party is responsible for the full year's tuition.
Please check out the Tuition Fee Page
- Money Orders or Cash:
This form of payment may be used for Canadian students, although Foreign Students in particular may be interested in this form of payment.
Multi-Children Families:
Tuition Fees may be reduced when a family has more than one child attending the school. The rates are as follows:
| First child | Full fare |
| Second and subsequent children | 10% reduction |
Field trips:
Excursions are crucial to the integrated approach Banbury Crossroads takes to the learning process. It allows children first-hand experience with their community and with activities not available within school walls. Many of our field trips involve admission fees charged by the institutions that offer tours. Most costs for field trips have been included in with tuition fees. The only ones that may require small contributions are for expensive outings such as theatre attendance. The full cost will be charged for out-of-town trips, optional courses and excursions such as horseback riding, camping, or skiing.
Physical Education Fees:
For all students from Pre-School through Grade 12, a $250.00 fee will be levied for Physical Education classes. This fee will help to cover the significant costs incurred by our program: gymnasium rentals, admission to other sports facilities, specialized instructors, transportation, equipment purchase and rental, and insurance.
Book Fees:
Book Fees are mandatory. They are to be paid in one lump sum. The fee for the 2005-2006 school term is $200.00/year for children from pre-school through E.C.S., and $300.00/year for students from Grade 1 through Grade 6. Fees for students of this age group pay for rental of textbooks and library/resource books, photocopying and consumable workbooks. Junior and Senior High School students, and foreign students, all pay for their own modules and texts. To facilitate the process of ordering books at the beginning of each year, or upon enrollment mid-way through the school term, we require a book deposit of $300.00 from each student in Junior and Senior High. As these books are owned by the students, they will have a choice at the end of the term of selling them to other students or the school (if we need them), or else keeping them. In unusual cases, some textbooks may be available at the school and rented for a fee.
Please contact Banbury Crossroads School Office at (403) 270-7787 for the most current fee amount.
Fees for Optional Courses:
For certain courses, fees are set on a per-student basis.
| Art | $ 100.00 per year |
| Food Studies | $ 100.00 per year |
Extra-Curricular Activities:
Fees for extra-curricular activities are charged when applicable, on a per-activity basis.
Default of Payment:
A service charge of $50.00 is levied on each NSF cheque. Non payment of fees will result in the student being suspended until payment is made. There will be a 3% interest charge levied on all fees that are 60 days or more overdue. In addition, after 90 days of non-payment, legal action may occur. Report cards will be withheld at the term end if there is an outstanding tuition balance.
Part-time Attendance:
Students who attend the school part-time pay on a pro-rated basis determined by Administration, either by course or by class attendance. Each course is charged at a rate of $1,650.00. For high school, foreign and adult students, an hourly fee of $45.00 for tutoring, and $30.00 for marking services is also levied. Pre-payment or post dated cheques are required.
Out of School Care:
Parents who pre-pay monthly for 20 hours or more of childcare will pay at the rate of $5.50/hour, and those who do not pay in advance, or whose children attend for 19 hours or less, pay at the rate of $6.00/hour. Pre-school children who remain after 3 p.m., however, will be charged at a rate of $7.00/hour, due to Social Services' regulations. This applies for students of all age groups.
Probationary Admittance:
On the rare occasion when the School is uncertain as to the appropriateness of enrollment of a potential student, it may allow a trial period of attendance. (See Section 07: Selection Procedures for details.) during this time, the registration fee and tuition will be required. Further tuition will only be required once the process is complete and the student is admitted. The registration fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
